A utilização de instrumentos didáticos/pedagógicos é uma estratégia eficaz no processo de ensino-aprendizagem, contribuindo para aulas mais diversificadas, interessantes e que abrangem a realidade social e cultural dos alunos. Ensinar a “Ciência da Vida” é algo fascinante, mas se esse ensino ocorrer exclusivamente através de aulas expositivas, com conteúdos baseados na memorização e tendo o livro didático como único instrumento pedagógico pode se tornar desinteressante para o aluno. O objetivo deste trabalho foi desenvolver, junto a professores de Ciências de uma comunidade rural de Uruçuí-PI, seminários e oficinas com o intuito de estimular o interesse pelo uso de instrumentos diversificados e tecnológicos durante sua prática docente. Foi realizado um seminario com a comunidade escolar expondo a importância de estratégias diversificadas de ensino, bem como oficinas de confecção de materiais pedagógicos. Foram explorados também o manuseio e preparação de aulas práticas utilizando microscópio e materiais disponíveis no entorno da escola. Em seguida foi feita a aplicação de um questionário com os docentes que demonstrou que as oficinas foram eficazes para a reafirmação da importância de aulas práticas e interativas. Além disso, os professores mostram-se mais aptos à realizar aulas práticas, demonstrativas e interativas, em prol de um aprendizado de Ciências mais proveitoso e significativo pelos alunos. Observou-se também que a falta de aptidão do professor pode ser contornada com iniciativas que busquem levar à comunidade escolar oportunidades de aprender a ensinar de forma mais motivante e interativa.
