Como otimizar os custos com a área de suprimentos das empresas e, ao mesmo tempo, atender uma demanda crescente e cada vez mais complexa? Partindo deste questionamento o presente trabalho apresenta uma análise da área de compras como setor estratégico, responsável por contribuir com o sucesso das empresas e organizações. Com demandas crescentes e complexas, demonstra-se por meio da análise da literatura como a área de compras de uma empresa pode fazer frente a estas demandas, ao mesmo tempo em que se otimiza ou mesmo se reduz o seu custo operacional. O estudo de caso, realizado em uma organização religiosa global, presente em 160 países, e com atuação em todos os Estados do Brasil, mostra como inovações em processos e inovações tecnológicas podem trazer ganhos operacionais como a redução do custo por pedido de compra, o aumento da produtividade dos compradores, e o aumento do custo evitado que se reverte em investimentos da organização. Demonstra-se que as empresas que transformarem suas áreas de compras em setores estratégicos, e investirem conscientemente em sistemas informatizados atrelados a processos sólidos e efetivos, obterão as vantagens competitivas que necessitarão para sobreviver em um mercado cada vez mais complexo e dinâmico.
A metodologia de Modelagem de Informações prediais (BIM) representa o método mais avançado para um projeto integrado, planejamento, construção, otimização e manutenção de projetos de construção. Embora reconhecida como uma metodologia promissora, útil e eficaz, sua implementação no Brasil tem sido lenta e limitada. Muitas dificuldades e obstáculos precisam ser superados pelas empresas que a implementam. Esses desafios são especialmente difíceis para as pequenas e médias empresas (PME's), pois têm orçamento e recursos limitados. Este trabalho tem como objetivo identificar, avaliar e correlacionar as principais dificuldades encontradas pelas empresas que pretendem implementar a metodologia BIM, bem como os fatores críticos de sucesso (CSF's) que levarão a uma implementação bem-sucedida do BIM. Foi realizada uma revisão biblio literatura para identificar essas dificuldades e as CSF's em quatro áreas: (1) implementação; (2) fase de projeto; (2) fase de construção; (3) gestão de instalações. Como resultado, 13 dificuldades e 13 CFS foram identificadas e avaliadas por 15 profissionais da indústria de Arquitetura, Engenharia, Construção e Operações (AECO). As 6 dificuldades mais significativas identificadas por autores e profissionais são: a) custos de implementação; b) falta de qualificação técnica e experiência da equipe; c) falta de padronização nos dados e documentos do projeto; d) resistência e relutância em mudar; e) falta de tempo; e f) redação e adaptação de novos contratos às exigências do BIM.
