RESUMO:O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar a resposta do algodoeiro a diferentes saturações por bases de um Latossolo Vermelho-Amarelo no município de Lucas do Rio Verde -MT. Foram definidas, por meio de mapas de interpolação, áreas com diferentes saturações por bases (V%), constituídas 34, 43, 47, 53, 54 e 69%, com cinco repetições. Cada parcela foi constituída de cinco linhas de algodão de 10 m. Foram colhidas três linhas centrais de cada parcela, descartando-se 3 m em cada extremidade, para a avaliação de produtividade, número de capulhos, número de plantas, peso de 100 sementes, diâmetro de caule, e análise das características tecnológicas da fibra. Verificou-se que a produtividade aumentou linearmente com o incremento das saturações por bases de 34% para 69%, o mesmo comportamento foi observado no índice de micronaire e na maturidade das fibras, já no caso de diâmetro das plantas o aumento dos valores de V% resultou em um decréscimo linear, onde os caules das plantas tornaram-se mais delgados nos tratamentos com maiores V%.
