DESCRITORES ABSTRACTHospitalization is a complex experience; this can be made worse if surgical intervention is required, especially when the patient is a child. When surgery is suspended, patient and family can experience feelings of insecurity, distress, and anxiety. The objective of this study was to identify and describe the perceptions of fifteen mothers or guardians of children between 0 and 18 years old admitted in a teaching hospital, after receiving news that surgery for their child was suspended. This was a descriptive qualitative study which used Interpersonal Communication as theoretical reference and Analysis of Content as the methodology. Results showed that suspension of pediatric surgery in our institution causes repercussions to patients, their families, and institution organisation; that communication between health team professionals, patients and families is inadequate; and that the nurses' participation in informing surgery suspension must be effective. Objective: to understand, from the perspective of professors, which are the facilities and difficulties in the development of communication skills in nursing undergraduates who experiment different teaching-learning methodologies. Method: qualitative research performed with 30 nursing professors from two public education institutions. The data was collected by semi-structured individual interview with guiding questions. We used Bardin's content analysis for the data processing and analysis. Results: the development of communication skills is influenced by factors such as the experience of practical activities, students' individual characteristics, use of active methodologies, access to the mass media, relationship of proximity between student and professor, and knowledge of theoretical concepts of communication and nursing. Final considerations: there is similarity between the influential factors, however, the use of active methodologies seems to favor the development of communication skills.
To evaluate the effect of isolated supplementation of low-concentration ozonized water on the clinical, anthropometric, and inflammatory profile in apparently healthy individuals. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial study to evaluate the effects of ozonized water supplementation in two concentrations (10µg/day and 16µg/day) in short-term (7days). Were performed with 66 male and female, over 18 years old. Anthropometric and clinical parameters were measured, serum levels of nitric oxide, manganese superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase were assessed in serum using an immunoassay – ELISA. With average age of 24.2 years, composed of 54.2% males, 35.4% were undergoing hormone therapy and only 31.2% knew ozonized water. Anthropometrics, clinical and oxidative stress characteristics of study participants did not difference significant to time by group interaction (p>0.05). Supplementation of ozonated water in apparently healthy individuals has no short-term effects on evaluated parameters on anthropometric, clinical, and oxidative stress parameters.
