Introdução: Os chamados nanomateriais são considerados por muitos, materiais que possuem sua estrutura restrita a dimensões de 1 a 100 nm. Os nanomateriais apresentam uma extensa faixa de aplicações como na biomedicina, na área de alimentos e agricultura, drogas e vacinas e principalmente na catálise. Objetivo: evidenciar as aplicações dos nanomateriais grafeno e nióbio na medicina, ressaltando seus resultados promissores nesse campo. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva do tipo revisão narrativa da literatura. A pesquisa foi realizada através do acesso online nas bases de dados National Library of Medicine (PubMed MEDLINE), Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDSR), Google Scholar, Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS) e EBSCO Information Services, no mês de novembro de 2021. Resultados e discussão: O óxido de grafeno reduzido tem se mostrado um excelente agente fototérmico, permitindo a eliminação eficiente de tumores em experimentos in vivo, bem como, devido a excelente condutividade elétrica do grafeno promete melhorar a conversão das sinapses em movimento. Além disso, o uso de nióbio cresce no campo da medicina como elemento de liga para aumento de resistência mecânica para implantes ortopédicos biocompatíveis. Considerações finais: Assim, é possível afirmar que são muitos os benefícios que o grafeno e o nióbio, interligados com as nanotecnologias, gerarão à humanidade, e, principalmente aos avanços da medicina.
“Terra de gente quase anfíbia”. Assim Gilberto Freyre descreveu Alagoas. “O que tapa o alagadiço” é o significado toponímico da palavra Maceió. Em registros textuais e iconográficos dessa cidade produzidos durante o século XX, a exemplo dos de Lúcio Costa e os de Mário de Andrade, as suas massas de água urbana aparecem com certa recorrência. Tal enfoque desses registros historiográficos motivou a elaboração deste artigo que versa sobre a imagem da cidade de Maceió no contexto da contemporaneidade. Consiste nos resultados da uma investigação, realizada pelos integrantes do Programa de Educação Tutorial do curso de Arquitetura e Urbanismo da Ufal, que trata de um conjunto de fotografias elaboradas por estudantes universitários no ano de 2014 motivadas pelo seguinte questionamento: como você vê Maceió? Cerca de 400 imagens foram analisadas sob um olhar construído a partir da leitura das próprias imagens enquanto representação gráfica de uma forma de perceber o mundo físico. Observando os elementos compositivos e as composições das imagens, assim como indagando sobre seus aspectos subjetivos, notou-se que a maioria das cenas retratadas corresponde a trechos da orla marítima da cidade, onde o mar aparece com relativa força pictórica ocupando grande parte da área do enquadramento fotográfico. Portanto, as imagens recentes da cidade continuam a representar um interesse pela paisagem natural de Maceió, que parece ter sempre “chamado a atenção”, como registrou Mário de Andrade nos anos de 1920, demonstrando uma força paisagística consolidada no e pelo imaginário dos que habitam a cidade até os dias de hoje.
