Para reforestar áreas degradadas en el trópico, el pich ('Enterolobium cyclocarpum'), es una alternativa, pero se requiere evaluar el comportamiento de sus semillas al almacenamiento en refrigeración. En este trabajo, las semillas se colocaron en bolsas de papel estraza. Estas bolsas se colocaron en un recipiente metálico dentro de un refrigerador doméstico por 15 meses a 4°C. La evaluación de su germinación se realizó mensualmente. El contenido de humedad se cuantificó por diferencia de pesos después de secar las semillas. Se utilizó el coeficiente de Pearson (r) para definir el grado de asociación entre el contenido de humedad y el porcentaje de germinación en cada tratamiento (meses). Las semillas se mantuvieron con un contenido de humedad entre 3.1 a 6.4 % y germinaron entre el 96 hasta el 100 % en seis días en promedio. Las semillas de pich tienen una cubierta seminal dura, lo que facilita su conservación. Su coeficiente (r) fue de -0.7 no significativo.
