Masculinization is a method of sex reversal technique that can direct sexuality from female to male. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of coconut water on masculinization in guppy by immersion administration. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with three treatments and three replications. After 12 days post spawning, female guppies were immersed for 8 hours. The concentrations were : 0%(P0), 20% (P1), and 40% (P2). The parameters were observed including percentage of male, survival rate and water quality (thermal, pH and kalium concentration). Baby guppies were reared until sex can be determined which were 42 days of culture. The result showed that the percentage of male guppy fish was 54.44% (P0), 77.78% (P1) and 90.00% (P2). The survival rate of larval during maintenance was 100% for all treatments. Water quality during maintenance was 27.0-28.4 0 C for temperature and 6.38-7.20 for pH. To sum up, this experiment proved that coconut water can be used for masculinization by immersed pregnant female broadstock and it produced 90% male when immersed with 40% of coconut water.
Synbiotic is a combination of probiotics and prebiotics can improve the feed efficiency, growth, survival and BAL population of fish. The purpose of this research was to know the effect of synbiotic feed to feed efficiency, growth, survival and immune response of catfish. This research conducted on October to December 2016 in Laboratorium Dasar Perikanan, Departement of Budidaya Perairan, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The method used in the research is Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with six treatments and three replications. Catfish with synbiotic feed that treatment with the addition of commercial feed with synbiotic P0 (Control), P1 (2.5 ml Prebiotics + Probiotics 6 ml /kg), P2 (5.0 ml Prebiotics + Probiotics 6 ml /kg), P3 (7.5 ml Prebiotics + Probiotics 6 ml /kg), P4 (10.5 ml Prebiotics + Probiotics 6 ml /kg) and P5 (12.5 ml Prebiotics + Probiotics 6 ml /kg) for 30 days. The observed parameters were feed efficiency, growth, survival, BAL populations in the gut and clinical symptoms after challenge test. The results showed that provision addition of synbiotic in feed give significant effect to feed efficiency, growth and survival of catfish. The treatment P2 with synbiotic feed (5.0 ml Prebiotics + 6 ml Probiotics /kg) gives the feed efficiency (39,27%), the highest growth of weight (4.38 g), the highest growth of length (1.74 cm), the survival (97.78%), LAB (Lactid Acid Bacteria) population (3.51 x 104 CFU.mL-1) and survival after test challenge with A. hydrophila (86.67%). Snakehead (Channa striata) is carnivorous fish that requires a source of nutrients from animal. Trash fish is one of alternative feed that can be used to rearing snakehead. This research aims to determine survival rate and growth of snakehead fry feeding by trash fish. This research is conduct on June- July 2016 in the Laboratorium Budidaya Perairan, Aquaculture Study Program. The research is design using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consist of five treatments that are freshwater trash fish 100% (P1), marine trash fish 100% (P2), freshwater trash fish 75% : marine trash fish 25% (P3), freshwater trash fish 50% : marine trash fish 50% (P4), and freshwater trash fish 25% : marine trash fish 75% (P5). The parameters to be observed were survival rate, growth, feed efficiency and water quality. Based on the research results indicate (P4) the survival rate, growth absolutly length, absolutly weight and feed efficiency are significantly different. (P4) trash fish 50%: marine trash fish 50% diet is show highest value of survival rate, growth absolutly length, absolutly weight and feed efficiency are respectively 83.33%, 1.90 cm, 0.500 g and 71.93%. Water quality of rearing measurements during the research were temperature 28.8-29.7°C, pH 6.5-7.9, dissolved oxygen 4.50-5.27 mg.L-1 and ammonia 0.09- 0.24 mg.L-1. Water quality parameters were still support for rearing of snakehead fry. Keywords : Snakehead, Freshwater trash fish, Marine trash fish
Ascorbic acid was one of the important nutrients for fish because it has the property as an antioxidant and imunomodulator that can improve the performance of fish. The purpose of this research is to support the production of snakehead fish (Channa striata) that have good growth and immunity. This research used a complete randomized design (CRD) consisted of 3 treatments and 3 replications. Ascorbic acid treatment consisted of P1 (0 mg.kg-1), P2 (50 mg.kg-1) and P3 (100 mg.kg-1). The results showed that the maintenance of snakehead fish (Channa striata) given ascorbic acid with a doses of 100 mg.kg-1 for 30 days gave the best growth results and significantly different and absolute weight growth reached 1.83 g, absolute length of 18.7 mm and survival reached 95 , 83 %. For immunity performance, it can be seen from survival of fish exposed to salinity 20 ppt during 15 minute reach 73,3 % and formalin 10 % for 10 minute reach 66,7 % and disease prevalence percentage reach 16,7 %
