ABSTRACTThe reinforced concrete and steel structures are very useful in construction of commercial and residential building, and its use is growing fast, but the concrete is generally susceptible to suffer with corrosion. In the case of steel reinforcement in concrete, corrosion is always a destructive process of electrochemical nature that claims for solutions in order to prevent accidents and give long life to the buildings. This study aims to demonstrate the relevance of the topic under study by mapping the research done on this area , not only of technological nature, but also scientific and survey of patents over the last 10 years related to concrete corrosion inhibitors, identifying countries or regions that have been highlighted in these studies. Our search indicates China and the United States as the countries with the largest number of patents. However, there is much more to be explored and a wide variety of products that can still be developed, take in account the particular character of use in each region.
