Experimental data are presented on the structure, composition, size, and proton configuration of zirconium hydroxide particles prepared by precipitation from sulfate solutions with and without inert supports (acetylene black). It is shown that growing zirconium hydroxide particles have an hierarchical structure with a constant ratio of the average particle sizes between two consecutive levels of the hierarchy. This feature is common to titanium and zirconium hydroxide nanoparticles, which, however, differ in reactivity.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
