Introducción: describir los cambios en la puntuación del Lung Information Needs Questionnaire (linq) después de una intervención educativa en pacientes con enfermedad respiratoria crónica en un programa ambulatorio de rehabilitación pulmonar (rp) en Cali (Colombia) entre noviembre de 2011 y abril de 2012. Materiales y métodos: estudio cuasiexperimental. Se utilizó el cuestionario linq para evaluar la necesidad de educación y diseñar el componente educativo que consistió en sesiones educativas individuales y grupales dos veces por semana. Al terminar el programa de rp se determinó el cambio generado en sus dominios. Resultados: de 61 participantes, 21 comple- taron las dos fases del estudio; el 51,7 % fue de sexo femenino, la media de edad fue de 55 años (de 15), 38,1 % estaban solteros y 47,6 % con nivel de educación básica primaria. La puntuación del linq prerehabilitación fue de 9,4 (de 3,5) y posrehabilitación 5,8 (de 2,5), con diferencias estadísticamente significativas (p < 0,05) en todos los dominios, excepto en el de medicamentos. Conclusión: el 100 % de los pacientes necesitaron algún grado de información educativa al inicio de la rp. El programa educativo para esta población resultó en mejoría de la puntuación del linq al finalizar la rehabilitación.
