The examinations of the structure, hardness and abrasion resistance of surface layer of Fe-C alloys having the contents ofcarbon up to 4 % and high-speed steel: 6-5-2, 4-4-2-5+C after laser hardening are presented in the paper. They are compared with the properties obtained after conventional hardening. Laser of impulse operation -YAG:Nd and of continuous operation -C02 were used. Analysis of structure was carried out based on metallographic and fractographic examinations as well as on X-ray structural analysis. Based on received results of examinations the optimum, with a view to operational properties, parameters oflaser and conventional heat treatment of steels were defmed.
This work is dedicated to the high-speed steel SW7M hardened with smelting by a laser. The study was carried out with the nonhardened and hardened specimens before laser treatment. As a result of smelting a grainy structure was obtained. On the boundries of grains a network of white phase is noticiable. Hardness of the nonhardened specimen becomes lesser with the distance from the elucidated surface. while in the hardened specimen at the depth of 600 -900pm a hardness downfall below the value of the core.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
