Production, Transmission, Pathogenesis, and Control of Dengue Virus: A Literature-Based Undivided Perspective

Abstract: Dengue remains one of the most serious and widespread mosquito-borne viral infections in human beings, with serious health problems or even death. About 50 to 100 million people are newly infected annually, with almost 2.5 billion people living at risk and resulting in 20,000 deaths. Dengue virus infection is especially transmitted through bites of Aedes mosquitos, hugely spread in tropical and subtropical environments, mostly found in urban and semiurban areas. Unfortunately, there is no particular therapeuti… Show more

“…In humans that suffer the infection for the first time, DENV causes asymptomatic to mild dengue fever disease. Subsequent DENV infections can cause more severe diseases, such as dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) and dengue shock syndrome (DSS), which can be fatal if not treated [ 71 , 72 ].…”

“…Renin-angiotensin system (RAS) is highly affected in Covid-19 owing to the down-regulation of ACE2 and interconnected with the progress of ALI, ARDS, and injury in multiple organs [ 47 ]. It has been reported recently that DIP reduces RAS and circulating AngII serum levels through an AD-dependent pathway [ 46 , 47 ] or PDE inhibition pathway [ 48 , 49 ]. Furthermore, DIP also mitigates Covid-19-induced complications like acute kidney injury [ 50 ], acute coronary syndrome [ 51 ], acute brain injury [ 52 ], and cytokine storm-mediated multi-organ injury [ 53 , 54 ].…”

“…Dengue fever is caused by the dengue virus, which is transmitted to humans primarily through the bites of infected female mosquitoes, mainly the Aedes aegypti mosquito [2].The dengue virus does not develop at the base of the mosquito's proboscis [3]. Instead, the virus replicates and multiplies in the mosquito's midgut after it feeds on the blood of an infected person [4]. The virus then moves to the salivary glands of the mosquito, from where it can be transmitted to another person during a subsequent mosquito bite [5].…”
